For hosts
Printable table cards
A tent card for the middle of the table, and sixteen questions to tuck under plates. Nobody has to announce a rule: the cards quietly change what the table talks about.
Prints on US Letter or A4. Cut along the dashed lines, and fold the tent card along the middle.
How to use them
Stand the tent card in the middle of the table, where everyone can see it.
Put one question card at each place, or pass the stack around after the first course.
Go first yourself. People follow the host's lead on how long and how light an answer should be.
If talk drifts back to the news, pick up the nearest card and read it out. No speech needed.
